Our MD SPCA Pack and Online Interview
As many of you know, Bruce Wayne and I have been helping raise funds for the Maryland SPCA. It is our way of giving back to animals that aren’t as fortunate and have not found their forever home yet. Back in late February/early March I saw an advertisement for the MD SPCA March for the Animals and knew I definitely wanted to participate, but did not want to walk alone (it’s always a lot more fun when we can walk these fundraiser walks with friends). I decided it was the perfect opportunity to reach out to the Instagram community and see if any dogs wanted to walk with us, so I sent a group message to our Instagram friends that we knew lives in or around Baltimore to see if anyone would be interested in fundraising with us. I had 3 ladies return my message with an enthusiastic “Yes!”
Ironically enough, our team consists of 2 Chihuahuas and 2 bulldogs (sometimes, things just work out perfectly)! The other Chihuahua in our pack is none other than the hilarious Pablo (@therealpablochihuahua). Pablo is a 3 year-old black (with a little bit of white) shorthair Chihuahua. Weighing in at only 3 pounds, his personality makes up for his small stature, as he has tons of energy and a lot to say! It’s always fun to see Pablo next to Bruce Wayne since Pablo is half the weight of Bruce Wayne, it makes my baby look like a giant!
The big man of the group is without a doubt, Bruno (@bmorebrunothebulldog). Bruno is a 1 ½ year-old English Bulldog weighing in at 57 lbs. It is always fun to watch him, as he doesn’t quite seem to understand that he’s not as tiny as the Chi’s, but wants to climb in your lap and is super curious about his surroundings.
Our one and only lady pup in the pack is just that …. A pup! Clementine (@_darlin_clementine), also a bulldog, just celebrated her 1st birthday! Clementine is a tiny 32 lb. fashionista who loves to dress up in fancy dresses and strut her stuff! She will definitely make sure all eyes in the room are on her! :-)
A few weeks ago, the MD SPCA emailed me asking if I would be willing to meet with a journalist from our local news station ABC2 to talk about our fundraising efforts. My immediate response was “can I bring my other pack members”? I am extremely camera shy (probably the reason why I have a dog Instagram account and website instead of one of my own, LOL), but more importantly, this has been a TEAM effort and I wanted to have my pack members by our side.
So on Tuesday, April 12, we all met with Allison Bourg of ABC2 News. The interview was for an online article, which was much easier than trying to get the dogs to all sit patiently for an on-camera interview. Allison began asking us about how we met, our fundraising efforts and of course, about our awesome dogs! In the end, we all got to know each other a little bit better, our dogs were able to mingle before the big 1.5 mile walk and we were able to snap a few pictures of the dogs together. (If you would like to read the ABC2 News article, it can be found here)
It’s been about 1 ½ - 2 months of fundraising and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks to all our awesome supporters, friends and family, our little pack has raised over $1,600.00! We couldn’t be happier with the amount of support we’ve gotten, especially with our pack being one of the smallest, as most packs consist of 15 or more participants raising funds. On behalf of the “Baltimore IG Pups”, we would like to thank everyone that has donated and/or shared our fundraising efforts! This has further proven what a great dog community we have on Instagram! :-)
